Denne øl er en klon af Gouden Carolus Christmas, en mørk belgisk ale, der passer perfekt til den fede julemad. Karolus Jul er en kraftig, sød øl. Den indeholder alt, hvad der hører julen til. Alkoholprocenten gør, at man ikke skal drikke meget af den, før det snurrer i hele kroppen. Sæt den på bordet og lad rødvinen hvile til juleanden!
I den originale udgave af øllet er der 3 humletyper og 6 forskellige krydderier. Så der er bestemt plads til forbedringer, hvis det handler om, at brygge en øl tæt på originalen. Nogen kan fornemme anis, mandler og rosiner i originalen. Andre siger mørk karamel, masser af lakrids (stjerneanis), tørre frugt (figen) og fennikel og lidt banan (måske på grund af hvedemalt), Det er da lidt inspiration til næste gang…
